Primary function: Direct and oversee all aspects of corporate sponsorships, alumni engagement, game day & external events for the Department of Athletics.  Present a positive and dynamic game environment when hosting athletic sporting events for all varsity sports.  Develop and oversee the implementation of strategies for the ultimate fan experience including maximize corporate partnerships.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Oversee development of corporate sponsorships, including direct solicitation of new prospects and stewardship of current sponsors. Include game day events in sponsorship packages to continue to increase fan experience & corporate partner recognition.
  2. Independently develop and implement community engagement strategies in order to increase fan attendance and experience.  Initiate new, innovative methods to engage Prairie Star student body, faculty, staff, alumni, and the local community.  Work directly with head coaches to include sport specific in game promotions & events
  3. Serve as Director of Camps and Clinics for all varsity sports including cost/benefit analysis and market needs.
  4. Educate student-athletes on NCAA Name, Image & Likeness opportunities and educate & train them in developing skills to maximize opportunities.
  5. Develop & direct the continued engagement/reengagement of athletic alumni including the creation of a Young Alumni group, Varsity Club, Athletic Alumni Career network, and other alumni groups. 
  6. Re-engage & direct Blue Crew and other groups to enhance game day experience & student engagement. Educate & supervise interns, graduate assistants, and student staff on appropriate guidelines for NCAA compliance and professional behaviors.
  7. Oversee the coordination and planning of special athletic department events such as homecoming activities, alumni and fundraising events, promotional events, Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Student-Athlete Awards Banquet, etc.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor & Director of Athletics.

 

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Strong communication skills required. Candidates must have ability to work in a team environment, work independently, and exercise judgment in a variety of situations. Desired qualifications include demonstrated knowledge of sport marketing and promotions experience, athletic event operations, experience with supervising and training staff, and general understanding of corporate sponsorship fulfillment and solicitations. Preference will be given to candidates with 2 or more years of profession experience working in college athletics. Candidates must have willingness to work non-standard hours, evening, and weekends as required.  Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA Division II, GLVC, and UIS rules & regulations.
